Gary J. Tearney MD PhD

Gary Tearney is a co-inventor of NinePoint Medical’s optical imaging technology. As the associate director of the Wellman Center for Photomedicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and the optical diagnostics program leader at the Center for Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology, Gary’s research focuses on optical coherence tomography and other imaging modalities. His work has been featured in prestigious journals including Nature, Nature Medicine, Circulation, Gastroenterology, and the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.He is also a professor of pathology at Harvard MedicalSchool and an affiliated faculty member of the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology. He completed his PhD degree in electrical engineering and computer science at MIT, where he also received postdoctoral training in the application of advanced laser sources in biology and medicine. He received his MD degree from Harvard Medical School and conducted his residency in pathology at Massachusetts General Hospital.
