Norman S. Nishioka, MD

Norman S. Nishioka is a gastroenterologist at Massachusetts General Hospital and an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He received an AB degree in physics and applied mathematics from the University of California at Berkeley, an MA degree in physics from the University of California at Berkeley and an MD degree from the UCLA School of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in gastroenterology at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

He has special clinical interest in the diagnosis and treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Barrett’s esophagus and early esophageal cancer. He has contributed to the clinical development of various optical imaging technologies including optical coherence tomography, optical frequency domain imaging in the GI tract.
